How to create a WiFi hotspot with your Laptop without using any software

                    You can quickly set up a wireless LAN hotspot with your windows laptop computer using the inbuilt WLAN card without using any additional software or application by following the outlined procedure below. This wireless network can be used to connect other wireless devices together, and also to the internet if the laptop is connected to the internet. The procedure is detailed below;

1. Go to the windows start button and type in "cmd", right-click on the cmd.exe icon and click on Run as administrator (You might get a prompt 'Do you want allow the following program to make changes to this computer? click on Yes)

2. In the command window's prompt type in netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=dteola key=password123$ and press the Enter key, you will get the following messages as shown in the screen-shot below. SSID is the name of your WiFi Hotspot and Key is the WiFi Password, both of which could be changed to anything you like.

3. Type in netsh wlan start hostednetwork at the command prompt and press enter to start the network. You will get a confirmation as shown below.

4.  Now to allow other devices to connect to this wireless network and share the internet connection on the laptop to the devices; go to Network and Sharing center, click on network connections, or (on windows 7) in the left pane click on change adapter settings, you will see a number of connections including the new virtual wireless network you just created.

             Right click on the network connection that is the source of internet on the laptop computer, click on properties, go to the sharing tab on top of the properties windows, check the box labeled 'Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection', then below under 'Home networking connections' Click on the drop down arrow and choose the newly created wireless network connection from among the list, click Ok to close the properties window.

         Now your laptop will act as a wireless hotspot for other wireless devices, sharing the internet connection from LAN cable or USB modem to the devices.

  Be sure to secure the network with a fairly strong password.
